Cavities Aren’t Part Of Growing Up: Dental Fillings in Carrollton

Dallas Cosmetic Dentistry

Preventative dental treatment can stop cavities and the need for fillings in children. At the Carrolton Dentist, we believe that cavities are not necessarily a part of growing up.

One of the best preventative treatments is a dental sealant. Dental sealants are a thin coat of clear resin applied to the biting surfaces of teeth, usually the rear molars. These back teeth are more prone to cavities, because a toothbrush can’t reach them as well as the front teeth. Their surfaces contain pits and grooves that easily trap bacteria. Even adults have to take care to clean their back molars.

Dental sealants fill in the pits and grooves on the rear molars to create a protective layer. We recommend sealants for children’s permanent back teeth. They’re good for adults, too.

It is vital that parents start regular dental visits for their toddlers and young children. The American Dental Association advises that a child’s initial dental exam take place soon after the first tooth comes in, and no later than the first birthday.

At The Carrollton Dentist, we take special care of our young dental patients. Cavities are not inevitable, but if they happen, we provide tooth-colored fillings. In addition to general and family dentistry, we also offer popular cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as teeth whitening. Schedule an appointment today!
